The key draw of Primate Lodge is its location, right next to the trailhead for chimpanzee tracking and habituation in Kibale Forest. The lodge has nine secluded thatched cottages spread into the forest, all of which have large decks which invite relaxation. The decor and furnishings are simple – the experience of being right in the forest is the highlight. Guests dine on the terrace which is open to the forest, and can then retire to the comfy sofas near the bar, or read up on their surrondings in the small library. Those wanting a more space should ask for the new ‘elephant banda’ – a double storey room with a living area underneath the bedroom.
