Crater Safari Lodge is only 7km from Kibale Forest and overlooks the Nyinabulitwa crater lake (the seond largest in Uganda). Its 21 rooms are divided into two categories – 10 standard cabanas, and 11 larger wooden thatched chalets. We suggest staying in one of the stylish chalets closest to the crater rim with sweeping views over the lake. The pool also commands lake views, while the main area is set further back from the edge itself. The solar powered eco-lodge offers a host of activities in addition to the chimp tracking including visits to nearby tea and coffee planations (their produce can be tried in the hot drinks station in the main area). Biking, crater lake visits, and trips to the ‘Top of the World’ viewpoint as well as hiking into the Rwenzori Mountains can also be arranged.
